2026 | 25th Bienalle of Sydney | White Bay Power Station | Performance |
https://www.biennaleofsydney.art/events/working-memory-housekeeping/
Director, performer and co-costume designer. A roving performance exploring the invisible labour of diaspora Filipino workers across hospitality, domestic care and service economies. A ghost-like figure moves through White Bay Power Station, draped in a layered costume of embellished white face towels, gradually giving the towels to audience members. As the costume sheds, the figure reveals Idiyanale, the pre-colonial Filipino deity of labour associated with the carabao. The work culminates in a final act of washing, where audience members are invited into a ritual of care, service and reverence.

FLOORPLAY
Redmond Reyes
2025 | Brand X | City of Sydney Creative Studios Sydney | Video installation | https://www.brandx.org.au/Event/floorplay
Director and performer. A video installation and performance work drawing on movement languages from queer nightlife. Presented in a public-facing window site, the work places the body between private ritual and public display. Rave gestures are slowed and repeated until they become studies in breath, stamina and exposure, reflecting on how queer Asian bodies are watched, desired and held through duration.

2025 | Brand X Multi-disciplinary Artist Residency | City of Sydney Creative Studios Sydney
(In development) Director, performer and costume designer. A performance work exploring the loss of a loved one and cultural death through assimilation. Using the Filipino broom as object, costume and metaphor, the work moves through destruction, reconstruction and becoming. Cleaning becomes a ritual of mourning and self-repair, connecting grief, domestic labour and cultural memory.
blessings
Redmond Reyes
2025 | Dark Mofo 2025 | Hobart, Tasmania
Director, performer and co-costume designer. A hybrid performance unfolding over two evenings through sermon, confession and temptation. One night presented a priestlike figure offering blessings through sound and audience confession; the other revealed a demon-like being inviting audiences into acts of exchange. The work used costume, character and ritualised interaction to test the unstable line between devotion, desire and performance.
ANTIVENOM

2025 | Antivenom: Year Of The Snake Exhibtion | 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art Sydney
Choreographer and performer. A performance created in collaboration with Owen Leong for Antivenom: Year of the Snake, responding to Leong’s sculptural objects and exhibition environment. Using the snake shedding its skin as an allegory, the work traces a figure moving through residue, release and renewal. Through movement, costume and proximity to the audience, the performance explores emotional armour, vulnerability and rebirth.

2022 | Soft Centre for Vivid Festival | Carriageworks, Sydney, Australia
Interview for ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation): https://youtu.be/QSEyG1t23p8?si=Rzbnyhdnk5ZKzXVG
Producer and performer. A two-part performance created in collaboration with Leeroy New and Wytchings, following a transplanted alien figure as it learns to survive new surroundings. The work functions as an allegory for queerness, coming out and cultural displacement within the Filipino diaspora. Through costume and movement, the body becomes both foreign and adaptive.
GABAN
Play written and directed by Brook Andrew (22nd Biennale of Sydney artistic director)
2022 | Sydney Modern opening program | Art Gallery of NSW, Sydney, Australia
Further images and artist statement: https://www.brookandrew.com/gaban
Actor and collaborator in dialogue, costuming and makeup. An ensemble performance by Brook Andrew presented at the Art Gallery of NSW. GABAN is a post-traumatic play; “gaban” is a Wiradjuri word meaning “strange” and speaks to the museum experience for First Nations peoples. As part of the ensemble, I responded through my own cultural perspective, contributing to a site-responsive performance shaped by dialogue, costume, body and museum space.
Blake Prize Performance

2022 | Blake Prize program | Casula Powerhouse Museum, Sydney, Australia
Video of performance: https://youtube.com/shorts/-7-LvvUXVYU
Choreographer, performer and costume designer. A three-part site-responsive performance created for the Blake Prize exhibition at Casula Powerhouse. The work followed a grey figure stalked by a dark entity, later revealed as the beginning of spiritual awakening. Developed in response to the museum’s architecture and artworks, the performance used costume, improvisation and movement to trace an encounter with shadow.

My costume and styling work is an extension of my performance practice. Across these projects, I use wearable forms, adornment, texture and character design to explore metamorphosis, gender, cultural memory and the body’s relationship to social space. This material practice informs my current interest in Filipino embroidery, beading, piña textiles, shell work and ritual objects as foundations for future costumes, objects and wearable forms.
